The NY Attorney General Is the Most Powerful Elective Office in the World - Explanation

The office of the NY Attorney General has the potential for being the most important elective office in the U.S. or world. The NY AG alone, without any assistance or approval from other elected officials, has the opportunity to cure the financial disaster that our elected officials have left for U.S. voters, and everyone else in the world. If this statement is true, doesn't that make the NY AG more powerful than the President of the U.S.?

The NY AG alone has more than 50% of the political power in NYS. He/she can act without seeking approval from any other person (such as the Governor, Controller, Senate, Assembly, U.S. President or U.S. Congress) and can provide the enforcement of law needed to reshape our financial institutions and economy.

The SEC, Justice Department, FTC, FDIC, Attorney General, U.S. Attorneys, Congressional Committees, Congress and other agencies of government, federal and state (and local, I might add) have failed in their duty to enforce the nation's laws and have permitted the near destruction of the nation's economy.

The New York Attorney General, through appropriate law enforcement, can function for the nation (and world) as the FTC, SEC, Justice Department and other law enforcement agencies to provide the needed law enforcement activities which will result in the creation of additional, higher paying jobs, greater opportunity for small businesses and self employed persons; provide better educational opportunities; and make the economy function for all instead of a favored few.

The NY AG does not have to purchase votes from corrupt politicians because he/she needs no new statutes. The existing statutes are sufficient to do the job, if properly enforced.

The NY AG does not have to go hat in hand to the New York legislature for money. In 2003, Attorney General Eliot Spitzer raised $3 billion by suing or threatening to sue major corporate wrongdoers. Accordingly, the NY AG can be self financed, if necessary.

The NY AG does not have to seek any legal opinions. He/she can give them to himself/herself.

The NY AG does not have to obtain approval for the Governor, Lieutenant Governor or Controller. They do not supervise the New York Attorney General.

Because the NY AG is so powerful, the office is the automatic stepping stone for the NY AG to become Governor, with his/her mind on becoming a candidate for the U.S. Presidency. Yet, once the NY AG becomes Governor of New York, he/she learns that there is very little political power in that position and the only way of getting things done is to do deals with the other politicians and avoid getting caught.

Eliot Spitzer learned the hard way. He was unable to transfer the awesome power of the office of the New York Attorney General to the office of Governor of New York.

The focus of elections in New York should be on who is going to become NY Attorney General. If the right person is elected (meaning, Carl E. Person), there is an opportunity to make the needed changes and for the parties who back my candidacy to become substantially stronger and more effective as a result.
